Toshiba Introduces Its First Panoramic IP Surveillance Cameras
Five Megapixel Cameras for indoor and outdoor use provide surround coverage to eliminate blind spots and improve situational awareness
IRVINE, CA, August 27, 2015 -- Toshiba Surveillance & IP Video Products, a business unit of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., is adding to its portfolio of network-centric video surveillance products with its first panoramic fixed IP dome cameras featuring IR LEDs and five-megapixel sensors to achieve richly detailed images of large indoor or outdoor areas, such as airports, shopping centers, parking lots and offices.
Toshiba's new cameras -- the vandal-resistant IK-WF51R and the indoor IK-WF51A --- can be mounted on ceilings for circular overviews of an entire room or on walls for 180° views. To eliminate the "fisheye" effect, video is de-warped inside the camera by digitally flattening it for greater situational awareness and distortion-free viewing. In addition to panoramic video, both cameras let users monitor in original surround view and in regional view.
Innovative technologies within the Toshiba panoramic cameras help to improve image quality and lower the costs of video surveillance. True Day/Night imaging and built-in IR LEDs enable the cameras to provide uniform illumination for clear viewing up to 33 feet, even in completely dark environments. Disturbances caused by extremely bright or dark environments are eliminated by the digital WIde Dynamic Range. Real-time H.264, MPEG-4, and MJPEG Compression enriches the video surveillance solution while reducing bandwidth requirements.
Like all Toshiba IP cameras, the IK-WF51A and IK-WF51R are made for simplified installation at a lower cost-of-ownership. PoE and PoE+ does away with the need for running additional electrical cables to power the cameras. ONVIF eases integration with compliant third-party components and Video Management Systems. A built-in pixel calculator helps installers determine the correct level of detail required at various distances for objects of interest or in intelligent analysis applications.
While the IK-WF51A is designed for standard indoor environments, the hardened IK-WF51R is equipped with an IP66 weatherproof and IK-10 vandal-proof housing that withstands rain and dust, as well as vandalism damage. To expand its versatility the IK-WR51R is also compliant with EN50155 standards for rolling stock applications.
