Toshiba Wide Angle IP Surveillance Cameras Help Users Achieve Greater Security with 20 Percent More Viewing Area

Indoor and Outdoor Versions Available

IRVINE, CA, March 04, 2014 -- In traditional video surveillance configurations, cameras are required on every corner of a parking lot, lobby or other large space for complete coverage, especially when there are multiple entrances or areas of activity.

IK-WD05A
IK-WR05A

Toshiba Surveillance & IP Video Products, a business unit of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., is bringing added cost-effectiveness to wide area coverage applications with two new full HDTV (1080p) mini-dome IP cameras featuring 110° horizontal viewing angles to capture up to 20 percent more area than cameras equipped with standard 93° angle lens, resulting in the need for fewer IP cameras to purchase, install and maintain.

Available now through Toshiba dealers and distributors, the outdoor-ready IK-WR05A and indoor IK-WD05A are pre-focused for objects at close range up to infinity, making them far easier for customers to mount and configure. In addition, both models are ONVIF Profile-S compliant for simplified integration with third-party ONVIF products and have 802.3af Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology to eliminate the need to run electrical cables for power.

Along with a suite of intelligent features, such as motion detection and alarm recording, both cameras will stream live video at 30 frames-per-second at full frame rate, two-megapixel (1920 x 1080) resolution. Their 4X digital zoom, combined with the HDTV resolution, provides highly detailed, close-up images for better identification, even when the subject is traveling at high speeds.

Because the cameras integrate Wide Dynamic Range, Day-Night Imaging and IR Lighting technologies, they will handle the most complex lighting environments, whether its highlycontrasted backlighting in a retail outlet or in near complete darkness outside. In either circumstance, the cameras will consistently capture usable, homogeneous video images that improve surveillance effectiveness.

Where the two cameras differ is that the outdoor-ready IK-WR05A is built more rugged with its IP66-rated environmental housing that withstands rain, snow and wide temperature swings, and is IK10 rated as vandal-resistant.
