| IRVINE, CA, December 5, 2005 --
Adding to its growing list of Technology Alliance Partners (TAP), Toshiba Surveillance & IP Video Products Group announced today a strategic partnership with Keyscan Inc., a leading provider of access control systems for doors and elevators, to collaborate on the development of software that integrates Toshiba's digital video recording technologies and Keyscan's security solutions.
"It is the goal of Toshiba and Keyscan to bring to market consolidated security systems built around software that allows for information sharing to maximize the value of our companies' hardware components," said Sergio Collazo, National Sales & Marketing Manager, Toshiba Surveillance & IP Video Products Group.
The first product of this partnership is a new Application Programming Interface (API) software module that adds powerful new verification and consolidated management control to systems employing Keyscan Management System V software and Toshiba Surveillix digital video recorders. |

| BRINGING IT TOGETHER |
| Access control and video surveillance are oftentimes treated as unique and distinctive systems within a security program, leading to a loss in overall effectiveness.
The new Application Programming Interface (API) module developed by Toshiba and Keyscan addresses customer demand to integrate these two security technologies so that video viewing, recording, storage, search and playback become an integral part of access control operations. This functionality not only enables the live viewing of video images, but the retrieval of video data from the access control system that can later be recalled, searched and displayed. Event-activated stored video data, such as motion detection or contact closure, can also be logged into the access control database.
"This new module brings together video and access control -- two related but distinct technologies - into a fully-integrated system with superior capabilities," says Toshiba's Collazo. "This is an important milestone for Keyscan and Toshiba, our customers, and the distributors, integrators and dealers who recommend our products."
"Integrating Toshiba Surveillix DVRs with Keyscan access control systems provides customers a powerful arsenal of security technology in an easy-to-use package," says John Megarry, Director of Marketing at Keyscan.
Toshiba's Technology Alliance Partners (TAP) Program is focused on deve loping strategic relationships with security technolog y leaders to create software interfa ce modules to achieve the seamless integration of products and systems .
