| IRVINE, CA, September 25, 2008 -- Customers, employees and assets at five Bank of New Jersey locations are better protected since the installation of a new analog/digital video surveillance system from Toshiba. Multiple cameras inside and outside the high-traffic buildings act to deter crime, capture footage for review of teller transactions, and serve as constant reminders to customers of how seriously management takes their safety. At the center of these installations are Toshiba Surveillix® EVR digital video recorders.
Founded in 2006, Bank of New Jersey (AMEX: BKJ) is a state-chartered commercial bank that offers a traditional range of financial products and services to meet the deposit and credit needs of individual customers, small businesses, and professionals in the local market area. To meet the security requirements of its Fort Lee, New Jersey headquarters and four newly constructed branches, the rapidly growing bank recruited Bergen Protective Systems of Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey.
Bergen Protective Systems installed hi-resolution color cameras throughout the interiors of each Bank of New Jersey location, along with day/night cameras on their exteriors that continuously keep watch of parking lots, drive-up transactions and outdoor ATMs. Authorized bank personnel can monitor live and recorded video on PCs linked to the bank's LAN. This hybrid solution merges the best of analog and digital technologies, providing a highly cost-effective and flexible alternative to traditional CCTV or expensive IP networks.
"The high-resolution analog cameras can capture details as small as license plates, as well as the transactions at teller stations," explained Joseph F. Cioffi, III, Vice-President of Bergen Protective Systems. "By using the Toshiba EVR, we ensure that these details find their way onto recorded digital files that can be monitored, analyzed or shared with police."
Cioffi was first introduced to the Toshiba Surveillix® line at a tradeshow in 2003. He left impressed with the system's capacity to support a large volume of cameras, while delivering excellent image quality and PTZ remote control. In addition, he appreciated the simplicity of its software, in particular, the advanced search function that allowed pinpointing of a specific event within seconds. He began specifying Toshiba's Surveillix® soon after returning from the show.
"I felt my customers would be comfortable with Toshiba's interface," said Cioffi. "Digital video recording is still a new concept to many people, but after a quick demonstration of the EVR, their concerns are mitigated and they are impressed by the ease of use and capabilities."
For the Bank of New Jersey installations, Cioffi deployed 32-channel versions of the EVR. These units feature massive 4TB hard drives capable of storing months of video from the more than twenty cameras installed at each location. The EVR can record a maximum of 480 pictures per second at resolutions as high as 720 x 480, so no critical details are lost. It also boasts one of the industry's most fault tolerant designs with redundant, field replaceable dual power supplies, maximum air flow dynamics, internal RAID 5 compatibility, and field-upgradeable hard drives.
