To reflect the reorganization, the business unit has been renamed the Toshiba Surveillance & IP Video Products Group, effective immediately.

In making the announcement, Sergio Collazo, the business unit's National Sales & Marketing Manager, said, "The security industry has rapidly migrated from analog to IP technology, and as a result, the competitive landscape has been fundamentally altered. Toshiba is one of the few, if not the only, company in the security business today that has a background in traditional analog systems and cutting edge IP technology, uniquely positioning Toshiba to achieve leadership in this new environment."

According to Collazo, Toshiba is aggressively moving towards providing end-to-end IP solutions for both large and small customers. Today at the ASIS International Seminar and Exhibit Toshiba introduced a new line of network cameras to compliment its existing IP cameras. In addition, its best-of-breed Surveillix® digital video recorders (DVR) family was expanded to include a new "hybrid" DVR designed specifically to help its analog customers migrate to fully digital systems at minimal cost and trouble.

In order to maximize growth in key areas, Toshiba Surveillance & IP Video Products Group is also restructuring its sales organization. Toshiba has appointed its senior sales team to lead the way in the management of both existing and new sales channels, including System Integrators, IT Integrators, Security Distribution and Government. By focusing on channel specific growth Toshiba will greatly accelerate its time to market for new products as well as improve the value proposition it offers to each specific channel.
