ORLANDO, FL, September 12, 2005 (ASIS
Show)-- In a move to capitalize on its strengths in enterprise-class
networking and digital video technology, Toshiba Surveillance
and IP Video Products Group today unveiled the IK-WB21A surveillance
camera, offering ultra-fast Pan/Tilt/Zoom (PTZ) capability,
razor-sharp SXVGA resolution (1280 x 960), and network functionality
to help security professionals achieve new levels of remote
monitoring performance with a wider field-of-view than standard
TCP/IP cameras.
Able to connect to a network by 10/100T-Base Ethernet , the
IK-WB21A’s integral web server transmits its video with
audio signals at rates approaching 30 frames per second by means
of highly efficient M-JPEG compression streams. Using
only a standard web browser , camera images can be remotely
viewed and the camera’s PTZ and multiple presets controlled
via a desktop PC, notebook or Internet-ready cellphone on a
LAN, WAN, Intranet or the Internet without additional software
or plug-ins. Multiple clients are able to simultaneously access
the same IK-WB21A on a network without any degradation in frame
rate. Plus, the camera features a slot for a removable
SD memory card, allowing for an added “at-the-camera”
recording option that works in conjunction with an alarm.
Key to the success of the IK-WB21A is its fast, wide-range
PTZ system, a benefit that makes the camera ideal for a variety
of applications, and especially effective in smaller retail,
office and residential applications where a single unit can
cover an entire premise area. The 300-degree per second
panning speed (-175 to +175 degree range) and 200-degree per
second tilt speed (-30 to 90 degree desktop, -90 to 30 degree
ceiling) permits the camera to immediately pinpoint a location
without delays due to compression. The high quality, auto
focus lens (f=4.0 to 88 mm) has a built-in 22x optical zoom
to scan in on tight areas, such as visual verification of a
cash register transaction.
Incorporating a powerful 1.4-inch CCD, the IK-WB21A provides
superior images with more detail and improved brightness than
any other network camera in its class. Even at challenging
lighting conditions, the IK-WB21A outperforms the competition
thanks to its versatile backlight compensation, auto gain control,
and extreme low-light sensitivity (0.13 lux @ F1.6).
Sleek, lightweight and remarkably compact, the all-in-one IK-WB21A
offers the flexibility of being ceiling mounted or placed on
a flat surface.
The Toshiba IK-WR21A camera is expected to ship in September
2005. MSRP has not been determined.
