Back In Black: Toshiba Unveils New Generation of Surveillix Digital Video Recorders

IRVINE, CA, September 8, 2009 -- Toshiba Surveillance & IP Network Video, a business unit of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., today unveiled its latest generation of Surveillix® digital video recorders designed to support up to 32 channels of IP video, including megapixel IP network cameras.

Housed in a highly distinctive black chassis, the five new "G4" recorders being introduced by Toshiba each uniquely deliver higher performance and more fire power than previous Surveillix generations by incorporating ultra-fast Intel® Core 2 Duo or Core 2 Quad processors, up to 3GB of RAM, and maximum video storage capacity of 8TB. Exceptionally versatile, the recorders are compatible with cameras and other networking components from major manufacturers including Toshiba, Sony, Panasonic, AXIS, Lumenera, ACTi, Arecont Vision, and Vantage.

Toshiba - a pioneer in digital video - is also leading the way in video management, offering SCS multi-site software with G4 recorders. Designed to fully leverage the processing power of G4 recorders, SCS software allows operators to remotely manage dozens of recorders from any location to perform tasks such as searching through months of stored video or configuring the recorder's vast capabilities from mapping to alarm lists.

The five new "G4" models are:

  • IPS Series: Designed to support both video encoders and network cameras, this cost-effective recorder is a robust surveillance solution in a streamlined 3U black chassis. It is capable of recording at megapixel resolutions and up to 30 pictures-per-second (PPS) per camera. With the IPS, cameras can be connected both locally or from remote locations over the Internet.
  • NVS Series: Featuring a performance chasis, the NVS has available internal RAID5 HDD capabilities, along with removable hard drives. It can record up to 32 IP cameras at speeds up to 30 PPS per camera.
  • HVS Series: These hybrid video recorders are ideal for economically migrating to IP video while still maintaining existing analog cameras, allowing it to fit a vast range of applications. It comes standard with 16 IP channels, plus can be configured for 32.
  • XVS Series: With intuitive setup menus, 4 channels of IP video, easy to configure recording schedules, and 6 intelligent search options, XVS series DVRs are a hassle-free solution for many recording needs. XVS systems come equipped with up to 4 Terabyte internal storage, recording speeds up to 240 PPS, looping video outputs, and a DVD+RW standard.
  • DVS Series: High-performance analog solutions with 4 channels of IP video as standard.  DVS recorders can be specified with 4, 8, 16 or 32-channels to meet specific requirements. They come pre-configured to allow HDD storage expansion in the field without it needing to be returned to Toshiba for upgrading. A maximum of 8 TB internal RAID 5 is available.
