IRVINE, CA, August 27, 2007 -- To meet the needs of today’s evolving video surveillance landscape, Toshiba Surveillance & IP Video Products Group today released a simple, cost-effective upgrade for its popular Surveillix® XVR Series of digital video recorders that enables the analog-only units to record both analog cameras and up to four channels of IP Network cameras.
Requiring no software or hardware to purchase or install, the XVR upgrade can be performed over the phone by the end-user simply by entering a supplied code.
“The upgrade allows XVR users to add IP network cameras to their analog camera systems without the cost of purchasing a network video recorder,” explained Sergio Collazo, Director of Toshiba Surveillance & IP Video. “It is ideal for small- to mid-sized operations who want the simplicity of analog recording coupled with the proven convenience of IP.”
A turnkey hardware and software solution, the Surveillix XVR is available in 4- and 16-channel configurations with internal storage of up to 1TB utilizing Toshiba’s proprietary space-saving MJPEG compression. Recorders have maximum speeds of 120 pictures-per-second (PPS), plus feature 2-way audio along with a built-in RS-422 adapter supporting over 75 PTZ control protocols. Analog recording resolutions run as high as 720x480 with audio recording possible on all sixteen channels.
Additional features contributing to the success of the XVR include the ability to export video in numerous formats with its DVD multi-burner; complete remote access and control over the Internet or 10/100BASE T LAN; optional looping output for each connected camera; and include Multi-site SCS software that enables operation of 100+ DVRs.
