Toshiba Expands IP Network Camera Family With Introduction Of Economical IK-WB15A
IRVINE, CA, June 28, 2006 -- Continuing its leadership role in developing network-centric video solutions, Toshiba Surveillance & IP Video Products today launched its new IK-WB15A Network Camera. It is now shipping with an MSRP of $599, making it one of the most cost-effective full-featured IP cameras on the market.

"The introduction of the IK-WB15A is a significant milestone in our effort to make network cameras a viable alternative to traditional analog CCTV cameras in a variety of video surveillance situations," said Sergio Collazo, National Sales & Marketing Manager, Toshiba Surveillance & IP Video Products. "It has the high-end features that professionals demand, yet is priced so that homeowners and small businesses can afford it."

Designed specifically for IP network video surveillance and remote monitoring applications, the IK-WB15A boasts a professional-grade feature set that includes crisp 1280 x 960 resolution based on the 1/4-inch Fuji Super CCD®, along with up to 30 frame-per-second Motion-JPEG video streaming, 2.6x optical zoom, variable speed Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ), installation simplifying Power over Ethernet (PoE), an SD card slot, and integrated two-way audio to allow communication with security personnel or to hear intruders.

Like all Toshiba IP cameras, the IK-WB15A can be monitored and controlled from a standard web browser or other networked communications device. In addition to security, the nearly limitless applications for the camera include weather monitoring, on-line entertainment, marketing of tourism, hotels and resort businesses, and daycare centers.

Super CCD Sensor
The IK-WB15A's high-resolution imaging sets it at the top of its class. Detail-rich, full-frame images are captured by the latest generation of honeycomb-style Super CCD sensor with 630K pixels, more than 60% greater horizontal and vertical resolution than a traditional CCD of similar size. In addition, the integration of the Super CCD results in faster video processing, improved depth of field, higher sensitivity in low light, and a broader dynamic range. To assure peace-of-mind around the clock, the camera automatically switches from color to black-and-white mode in very low light in conditions.

A self-contained, all-in-one solution, the IK-WB15A does not require an on-site PC for operation. Its embedded IP server empowers users to access live video from anywhere in the world via a standard web browser (Internet Explorer® Ver. 6.0, Netscape® Ver. 7.0) for real time incident response . Up to multiple viewers can access the same IK-WB15A video simultaneously, plus the camera has motion detection capability that will automatically record video when tripped even if the user is not watching. Pan, tilt and the 2.6X optical can also be controlled remotely via the simple-to-use network interface.

The IK-WB15A is further distinguished as being the first Toshiba IP network camera to be RoHS compliant. It is backed by a one-year warranty.

High Growth Market
Industry analysts expect IP network cameras to post an annual growth rate of almost 90 percent with global sales reaching $3.9 billion by 2010. According to independent research, Toshiba is currently the fourth largest supplier of IP network cameras worldwide.
