| IRVINE, CA, May 25, 2006 -- Toshiba Surveillance & IP Video, a leading supplier of security solutions, today launched an analog CCTV video camera that brings enhanced image clarity to challenging backlighting environments.
The new IK-6550A camera offers four user-selectable backlight compensation modes that meet the quality requirements of virtually any backlit environment, adding invaluable details to video images by improving contrast, brightness and sharpness. Backlighting occurs, for example, when a monitored subject stands before a window letting in glaring sunlight. This produces an unevenly lit subject image that is too hazy for a standard CCTV camera to accurately capture for identification.
Employing a 1/3-inch IT CCD, this box-style camera delivers an impressive 540 TV line resolution and superior low-light sensitivity to 0.2 Lux. Day-Night Imaging captures clear color video during daylight hours while instantly changing to night vision when light levels drop. An automatic shutter, digital noise reduction, 50dB signal-to-noise ratio, and simple menu-programmable operation round off its feature set.
In addition to retail, other suggested applications for the IK-6550A are banks, ATMs, casinos, corporate offices and schools. The camera is backed by a three-year warranty, plus is compliant with RoHS.
